Carthage College has officially opened its J-Term 2026 Scholarship application cycle, offering financial assistance to students eager to take part in short-term study abroad and experiential learning programs during January or Summer 2026. These scholarships are designed to reduce financial barriers and expand global learning opportunities for students seeking international academic experiences. As per our recent check limited funding is also still available for Summer 2025 study tours.
Program Description
Carthage College’s J-Term and summer programs allow students to earn academic credit while gaining immersive global experience through faculty-led study tours. Whether exploring ecosystems at Iguazu Falls or diving into international culture, the program is a transformative opportunity for students to link classroom theory with real-world experience.
Funding Benefits
The scholarships help offset the cost of travel and program participation for both January and summer J-Term study tours. Available funds include:
- Full Semester Study Abroad Scholarships
- J-Term & Experiential Learning Scholarships
Funding is awarded based on financial need, academic goals, and program relevance. The exact scholarship amount may vary.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolled at Carthage College.
- Plan to participate in a J-Term 2026 (January or Summer) study abroad or experiential learning trip.
- Not have previously received a study abroad scholarship from Carthage.
- Submit a faculty or staff recommendation.
- Gain approval from the faculty tour leader.
Application Requirements
Applicants must complete the following:
- Submit an online scholarship application.
- Provide a brief statement demonstrating how they meet eligibility.
- Include an essay outlining how the experience supports their academic/career aspirations.
- Have a faculty or staff member submit a recommendation form.
