The New Zealand Government has officially launched a new online searchable tool that enables work visa applicants to check whether a prospective employer is accredited or not. This initiative is designed to provide transparency and help streamline the process for migrants planning to work in New Zealand under specific visa categories.
Tool Purpose
This newly launched tool allows applicants to confirm if an employer is currently accredited with Immigration New Zealand. Accreditation is essential for those applying for work visas tied to accredited employers or for those looking to change jobs while on such visas.
Work Visas This Tool Supports
You can use this accreditation check tool if you are applying for or already hold:
- Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)
- Another AEWV (if you’re changing jobs)
This is particularly useful for those required to work exclusively for accredited employers under the terms of their visa.
How to Use the Tool?
To search for an accredited employer, you’ll need either:
- The New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) — a 13-digit unique identifier for businesses,
OR - The company name or trading name (enter at least the first three characters).
The employer list is updated daily to reflect new accreditations and renewals. However, some employers may opt out of being listed, so if an employer does not appear, it’s advised to check directly with the employer about their accreditation status.
