Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society (BKC) has opened applications for its 2025–2026 fellowship cohort, welcoming individuals from academia, recent post-doctoral graduates, and accomplished non-academic professionals. Fellows will work in residence at BKC’s campus in Cambridge, MA, engaging in independent research, collaborative projects, and strategic problem-solving within one of five emerging digital society workstreams. The program aims to foster a diverse, interdisciplinary cohort tackling urgent issues in technology, AI, and digital communication.
Fellowship Benefits Package
- Stipend Support: Up to $75,000 annually for fellows without external funding and $10,000 top-up stipend for fellows with outside or sabbatical funding.

- Potential to audit university courses with professor approval.
- Eligibility to connect with university organizations and possibly teach (case-by-case basis).

- Health Insurance Options: Eligible fellows may purchase insurance via Harvard University’s health policy.

BKC welcomes applications under three distinct fellowship tracks:
1# Academic Fellowship

- For full-time faculty members (assistant, associate, or full professors).
- Must show deep engagement in AI or networked communication topics.
- Strong record of published work and collaborative potential.
2# Post-doctoral Fellowship

- Open to scholars recently awarded or soon to receive a terminal degree (by Sept 2025).
- Should not be enrolled in any degree program during the fellowship year.
- Must show strong scholarly engagement and contribution to AI/social media discourse.
3# Non-academic Fellowship

- For experienced professionals outside academia.
- Proven record of expertise and publication in AI or social media fields.
- Eager to contribute to collaborative, solution-oriented projects.
All fellows are expected to reside in the Greater Boston area and work from the Berkman Klein Center offices between September 2025 and May 2026.
