CAS-ANSO Fellowship Fall 2025 – Application Deadline April 24, 2025

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO) are now accepting applications for the CAS-ANSO Fellowship Program – Fall 2025 Intake, offering generous funding and exclusive short-term research opportunities across CAS institutions.


Fellowship Overview

In support of the UN Decade of Sustainable Development, the CAS-ANSO Fellowship aims to:

  • Strengthen global and regional scientific capabilities.
  • Foster international research collaborations.
  • Build long-term cooperation networks among Belt and Road countries and beyond.

This opportunity is open to non-Chinese mainland researchers and cooperation experts seeking collaborative engagement with China’s top scientific institutions.


Three (03) ANSO Fellowship Categories Available for 2025 intake

Category I: ANSO Partner Fellowship

    • Who Can Apply: Senior researchers and management staff from international science and education institutions. Priority is given to ANSO member organizations.
    • Duration: 1–2 weeks
    • Allowance: RMB 10,000/week (pre-tax) + one-time round-trip travel subsidy.

Category II: ANSO Visiting Scientist Fellowship

    • Who Can Apply: Assistant professors (including postdocs), associate professors, professors, or professionals in related fields
    • Duration: 1–6 months
    • Allowance:
      • Assistant Professors/Postdocs: RMB 15,000/month + one-time round-trip travel subsidy
      • Associate Professors: RMB 25,000/month + one-time round-trip travel subsidy
      • Full Professors: RMB 35,000/month + one-time round-trip travel subsidy.

Category III: CAS-ANSO Alumni Fellowship

    • Who Can Apply: Alumni of CAS-TWAS Scholarship, CAS Belt and Road Master’s Fellowship, or CAS-ANSO Scholarship who now work in science and technology fields in Belt and Road regions.
    • Duration: 1–2 weeks
    • Allowance: RMB 10,000/week (pre-tax) + round-trip travel subsidy.

How to Apply for CAS-ANSO Fellowship 2025?

To apply for the CAS-ANSO Fellowship Fall 2025 Intake, applicants must follow a structured process and submit all required documentation accurately and on time.

The application process begins with the applicant securing a host researcher at a CAS-affiliated institution who agrees to support their application. Once this is confirmed, the applicant should gather all required documents and submit the complete application package to the host researcher, who is responsible for the final submission through official channels. Applicants must not send their documents directly to the ANSO Secretariat, as such submissions will not be accepted.

Following submission, all applications will undergo an expert review process from May to June 2025, with results communicated through the respective host researchers. Applicants should also take note that all fellowship-related activities must be completed by December 31, 2026.

Mandatory documents include a completed application form (Attachment 1), a recent passport-sized color photograph, and a scanned copy of the passport’s information page. A recommendation letter from a CAS host researcher is essential, along with a detailed research or collaboration plan outlining the background, objectives, timeline, and expected outcomes of the proposed visit. Additionally, applicants applying under the Alumni Fellowship category must also submit their diploma and proof of a past scholarship award under eligible CAS programs.
