This rare award is funded by the E. Allison Peers Bequest, continuing the legacy of a pioneer in Hispanic studies and designed to promote advanced academic research at Liverpool’s renowned Department of Languages, Cultures and Film.

Who Was E. Allison Peers?
E. Allison Peers (1891–1952) was the second Gilmour Chair of Spanish at the University of Liverpool and a celebrated academic figure who significantly advanced the discipline of Hispanic studies in the UK.
Eligible Study Areas
Students must focus their Master’s research on Iberian or Latin American Studies, and applications are encouraged from the following study streams:
- Basque, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese (Brazilian & European), Spanish, and Latin American Studies
- Comparative or cross-cultural topics are strongly welcomed.
Possible research themes include:
- Sociolinguistics and minority languages
- Cultural politics and identity
- Film, literature, visual and digital culture
- Memory, gender, and postcolonial studies
- Diaspora, migration, and conflict resolution.
