In an exciting call to the global academic community, the College for Social Sciences and Humanities at UA Ruhr is now accepting applications for its International Senior Fellowship Programme 2026/2027. If you’re a senior-level researcher in the social sciences or humanities, this could be your moment to join one of Europe’s most dynamic research hubs for six months of dedicated, collaborative work.
What is UA Ruhr’s International Senior Fellowship Programme?
Launched in 2021, the College for Social Sciences and Humanities is a thriving part of the Research Alliance Ruhr—a joint venture between the University of Duisburg-Essen, Ruhr University Bochum, and TU Dortmund University. Nestled in Essen, Germany, at the heart of the Ruhr metropolitan region, the College is a magnet for interdisciplinary, global research talent.
The International Senior Fellowships are prestigious awards offered to outstanding senior researchers (R4 level) to carry out independent research projects in collaboration with academic peers from UA Ruhr. These fellowships span six (06) months, with the option to begin on either March 1, 2026 or September 1, 2026.
