Marking its 20th anniversary and coinciding with the UNESCO International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, this prestigious honor is a rallying call for the world’s most brilliant minds in Quantum Science and Technology—especially those rising from developing nations.

- A scientist in Quantum Science and Technology?
- A national of a developing country, working in the Global South for the past 10 years?
- Conducting high-impact research or developing cutting-edge applications in quantum computing, communication, sensing, or materials?

Who’s NOT Eligible?
- Past recipients of the TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize or Trieste Science Prize
- Winners of other international awards valued ≥ USD 100,000
- Self-nominations and jury member nominations.
Evaluation Criteria: An elite international jury, chaired by the TWAS President, will evaluate:
- Originality of work
- Global impact on Quantum Science
- Scientific merit and leadership
- Contributions to building research capacity in developing countries.
Nomination Process: Nominations must be submitted online only by:
- TWAS Members
- Science academies
- National research councils
- Universities and recognized scientific institutions
(Nominations of women scientists are especially encouraged.)
Application Deadline
The last date to submit nominations for the TWAS-Apex Award 2025 is 15 May 2025. All nominations must be completed and submitted electronically through the official TWAS online platform https://twas.org/opportunity/twas-apex-award.
