Taiwan Fully-funded Fellowship 2026 Inviting Applications

Are you a scholar passionate about Taiwan, China, the Asia-Pacific region, or Sinology? The fully funded Taiwan Fellowship 2026, offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Republic of China (Taiwan), is now open for applications! International researchers from around the globe — including a special call for scholars from the Czech Republic — are encouraged to apply for this fully funded research opportunity in Taiwan.


About the Taiwan Fellowship

Since its launch in 2010, the Taiwan Fellowship has supported global academics to conduct advanced research on Taiwan, cross-strait relations, regional security, diplomacy, disinformation, technology policy, and global supply chains. Selected fellows will be hosted by Taiwanese universities or research institutions for a continuous research stay of 3 to 12 months in 2026.


Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be foreign nationals and:

  • Faculty members (Professors, Associate/Assistant Professors)
  • Postdoctoral Researchers
  • Doctoral Candidates and Students

Field of Focus: Taiwan Studies, Cross-Strait Relations, China Studies, Sinology, Asia-Pacific Affairs, and related social sciences and humanities disciplines.


Taiwanese Fellowship Funding Package Offers

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Monthly Research Grant: NT$60,000 for Professors, Associate Professors, Researchers, and NT$50,000 for Assistant Professors, Post-docs, Doctoral Candidates/Students.
  • Round-trip economy airfare (up to NT$60,000 for travel from Europe)
  • Group accident insurance (Coverage up to NT$1,000,000, including NT$50,000 medical insurance)
  • Research period flexibility: 3–12 months, starting no earlier than January 1, 2026 and ending by December 31, 2026.

Application Process

To apply for the 2026 Taiwan Fellowship, begin by submitting your online application through the official portal http://taiwanfellowship.ncl.edu.tw/eng/apply01.aspx between May 1 and June 30, 2025. After completing the online application, you must print and mail your application materials by July 1, 2025 to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), Prague, located at Evropská 33C, 160 00 Praha 6. Be sure to clearly mark the envelope with: “Application for the 2026 Taiwan Fellowship.”

The required documents include: (1) the completed online application form generated from the system, (2) your curriculum vitae including a list of publications, (3) a three-page research proposal written in English and following academic standards, and (4) two recommendation letters — or one recommendation letter and one consent letter from the highest administrative authority of your institution.
