Are you passionate about isotope science and atomic weight research? Here’s a unique opportunity to connect with world-leading experts in the field! The Commission on Isotopic Abundances and Atomic Weights (CIAAW) is now accepting applications for the Student Observer Grant 2025, which supports emerging researchers to attend its biannual meeting scheduled for September 1–5, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan.
Program Description
The Student Observer Grant is designed for early-career scholars—undergraduate or graduate students and recent PhD graduates—who specialize in isotope ratio analysis, atomic weight determination, or data processing within these scientific domains. Grantees will attend the CIAAW meeting as observers, gaining invaluable exposure to discussions shaping the future of isotopic measurements and standards.
Funding Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Full travel expenses (round-trip to Tokyo, Japan)
- Accommodation for the duration of the meeting.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be an undergraduate, graduate student, or a recent PhD graduate (within two (02) years post-completion).
- Demonstrate hands-on expertise in at least one (01) of the following areas:
- Light stable isotopes and techniques
- Heavy stable isotopes and techniques
- Alternative isotope ratio determination methods
- Be familiar with metrological principles related to isotope measurements and atomic weight assessment.
How to Apply?
Step 1: Submit the following documents via https://ciaaw.org/student-grant.htm.
Step 2: Interview Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with CIAAW leadership. Final awardees will be selected based on academic merit, motivation, and field relevance.
