The University of Beira Interior (UBI), in collaboration with Scantavares Metal, Lda., invites applications for a fully funded research fellowship (SABE-BI-01) under the SABE – Advanced and Sustainable Block Engineering project. This exciting opportunity is part of the CENTRO2030 Program and takes place at the Center for Materials and Civil Engineering for Sustainability (C-MADE).
Funding & Fellowship Benefits
- Monthly stipend: €1,309.64 (aligned with national PhD fellowship rates)
- Duration: 36 months (starting June 2025)
- Insurance: Personal accident coverage and optional social insurance
- Work Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)
- Location: C-MADE, University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal
- Mentorship: Supervised by Professors João Paulo de Castro Gomes, João António Saraiva Pires da Fonseca, and Clemente Martins Pinto.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Hold a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- Be eligible and committed to enrolling in a PhD program.
- Demonstrate experience in sustainable construction materials and/or applied research.
- Have proficiency in material characterization, mortar/block development, and prefabrication technologies.
- Be fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Foreign degrees must be officially recognized under Portuguese law prior to contract signing.
