Unlike other programs, this scholarship is only for employees undertaking full programs (certificate, diploma, degree) and not for standalone courses.


Funding Benefits

This scholarship offers reimbursement-based funding depending on the level of your program:

1# Up to $5,000 per 12-month scholarship year for:

    • Certificate programs
    • Diploma programs
    • Undergraduate degrees.

2# Up to $7,500 per 12-month scholarship year for:

    • Master’s degrees
    • PhDs
    • CPA Professional Education Program (CPA-PEP).

What’s Further Covered?

    • Tuition
    • Required textbooks.

What’s not covered:

    • CPA Prerequisite Education Program (CPA-PREP)
    • Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
    • Prerequisite or preparatory courses
    • Miscellaneous fees.

Your program must include graded components and result in a final academic transcript to qualify for funding.


Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Pacific Leaders Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a regular full- or part-time BC Public Service employee
  • Have completed at least 6 months of service and passed probation
  • Be meeting or exceeding expectations in your current role, as confirmed by your supervisor
  • Be pursuing a formal program of study (certificate, diploma, or degree)
  • Be committed to a return of service agreement—meaning, for every 12 months of scholarship funding, you agree to continue working in the public service for a specified time.

The scholarship is offered three times a year, and right now, the May 2025 intake is open and here’s what you need to know:

  • Application Deadline: May 31, 2025
  • Eligible Study Period: September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026.

Important: You can only receive one scholarship in a 12-month period.
