NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) has officially opened applications for its Fall 2025 Next Gen STEM Internship at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. This opportunity is a unique hands-on internship tailored for undergraduate and graduate students, offering an extraordinary chance to work alongside NASA professionals on cutting-edge STEM education initiatives.
What’s This Internship About?
The internship is part of NASA’s mission to build a future-ready STEM workforce by engaging students in real-world projects that support national education and technical advancement goals. Interns will work directly with NASA’s Communique virtual platform to enhance pre-college educational offerings and bring Career Technical Education (CTE) Month celebrations to life in a digital format.
This isn’t just about learning how NASA works — it’s about helping NASA shape how young students nationwide are introduced to technical careers in space science, robotics, aerospace engineering, and beyond.
What Will Interns Do?
As a Next Gen STEM Intern, students will take on a variety of creative and technical responsibilities, including:
- Designing virtual lobbies and exhibits that reflect CTE Month themes
- Creating interactive elements and navigational features in Communique
- Developing a consistent and engaging visual identity for NASA’s pre-college education events
- Building branded virtual backdrops and custom presentation spaces
- Hosting live virtual sessions with NASA experts
- Researching best practices from previous events and identifying key messaging themes
- Testing platform functionality and managing virtual access for attendees.
Who Can Apply?
This in-person internship is open to U.S. citizens only, and applicants must be:
- At least 16 years of age
- Enrolled as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, or a graduate master’s student
- Majoring in fields related to Communication Technologies, Graphic Communications, or Education
The ideal intern should have a strong interest in design, digital communications, education technology, and public engagement — with the drive to innovate in virtual learning spaces.
