The NICO Group, a leading financial services conglomerate in Malawi, is inviting ambitious young graduates to apply for its 2025 Management Trainee Program (MTP). This highly structured and prestigious development program is tailored to groom high-potential individuals into future business leaders.
Founded in 1971 as a short-term insurance provider, NICO Group has evolved into a diversified group offering services in general and life insurance, pensions, banking, asset management, IT, corporate finance, property, and more. Operating in Malawi, Zambia, and through Sanlam in Mozambique and Uganda, NICO plays a pivotal role in Africa’s financial landscape.
The MTP is a 2-year rotational program providing in-depth exposure to multiple business units within the NICO Group. Selected trainees will gain practical experience, work alongside senior professionals, participate in strategic projects, and develop critical leadership and business skills through targeted learning interventions and executive mentorship.
This program is a stepping stone to a dynamic and rewarding career, and successful trainees may be placed in permanent leadership-track positions upon completion.
Tasks
During the Management Trainee Program, selected candidates will:

Participate in rotational assignments across key departments such as insurance, banking, IT, asset management, and HR.

Contribute to strategic and high-impact projects aligned with business goals.

Receive personalized mentorship and coaching from senior leaders.

Attend structured training sessions to build leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Learn NICO’s core business operations and participate in decision-making processes.

Be evaluated continuously on performance, attitude, learning progress, and potential.

Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s operations across Malawi and the wider region.
Qualifications
Education and Certification:
To be considered for the NICO Management Trainee Program 2025, candidates must:

Be between the ages of 18 and 30.

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from a reputable institution in any of the following disciplines:

Graduates with Distinction or Credit passes will be given preference.
