The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a state corporation in Kenya tasked with providing social protection to workers in both the formal and informal sectors. In support of Kenya’s Youth Empowerment Agenda and to combat youth unemployment, the NSSF Internship Program 2025 offers recent graduates the opportunity to acquire practical experience within a public sector environment. This one-year structured internship program provides selected interns with hands-on training, professional mentorship, and exposure to government operations.
Interns will be strategically placed in roles that correspond to their educational background and career aspirations. The program promotes skills development and enhances employability for fresh graduates in Kenya.
Tasks
During their internship period, interns will be engaged in the daily operations of the department they are assigned to. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting in routine office administration and clerical duties
- Providing frontline customer service at NSSF service counters
- Data entry and updating membership or transaction records
- Supporting the Finance, Accounting, and HR departments
- Assisting with IT and systems maintenance
- Compiling internal reports and documentation
- Familiarizing with government policies and NSSF operational frameworks
Interns will receive guidance from experienced mentors within the Fund to ensure they maximize the learning experience.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Applicants must possess a Diploma or Degree from a recognized institution
- Fields of study may include (but are not limited to):
- Business Administration
- Finance or Accounting
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Human Resource Management
- Public Relations
- Social Sciences
Experience
- No prior work experience is required
- Internship is aimed at recent graduates
- Must demonstrate professionalism, willingness to learn, and adaptability
Other Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen
- Aged 35 years or younger
- Must not have previously participated in any government internship program
Additional Information
The NSSF Internship Program 2025 runs for a fixed 12-month period and is non-renewable. While interns will receive a monthly stipend determined by NSSF, this program should not be viewed as a pathway to automatic employment within the organization.
