The University of Hong Kong’s School of Computing and Data Science (HKU CDS) is offering a golden opportunity this summer — and it comes with a generous stipend.
What’s the Opportunity?
HKU CDS has officially opened applications for its 2025 Research Internship Programme, welcoming approximately 50 high-achieving undergraduate students from Mainland China and around the world. This immersive summer internship will run from July 13 to August 31, 2025 (with flexibility depending on your assigned supervisor). Each selected intern will receive a stipend of HK$22,274 — enough to support your stay and experience in Hong Kong.
But this internship isn’t just about the money — it’s your chance to experience real academic research and get a head start on postgraduate opportunities at HKU.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must be:
- A Year 2 or Year 3 undergraduate student.
- Studying Computer Science, Statistics and Actuarial Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Currently enrolled at a university in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or any overseas institution.
What You’ll Do?
Once selected, you’ll be matched with a faculty member to work on a real research project in your area of interest. Interns are expected to work full-time, collaborate with faculty and postgraduate researchers, and present their project results at the end of the internship.
This isn’t a classroom-based programme — it’s full research immersion, giving you a unique insight into life as a postgraduate researcher.
