DAAD PhD Literature Scholarships 2025 at University of Münster

The Graduate School Practices of Literature (GSPoL) at the University of Münster in Germany is now inviting applications from international students for the DAAD-funded PhD Scholarships beginning April 1, 2026. This three-year fully funded program offers an exciting opportunity for aspiring researchers in literary and cultural studies to work in an interdisciplinary and globally-connected environment.


DAAD GSSP Scholarship Covers

The DAAD GSSP scholarship provides:

  • Monthly stipend for 36 months
  • Health, accident, and liability insurance
  • Travel allowance (if applicable)
  • Funding for research stays outside Germany (up to 25% of the scholarship period)
  • Optional one-year extension upon successful progress

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold a master’s degree (or exceptional bachelor’s degree) in literary studies or related fields with strong academic performance (minimum GPA: 2.0 for master’s, 1.5 for bachelor’s)
  • Demonstrate German and English proficiency (C1 in one, B1 in the other)
  • Possess additional foreign language skills per study regulations
  • Have not lived in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of DAAD nomination
  • Have completed their most recent degree within the past 6 years
  • Not hold a PhD
  • Be willing to commit to an interdisciplinary support group of three supervisors.
