Canada has officially launched a new Visa Application Tracker System for 2025, allowing applicants to track their immigration or visa status online in real time. This major upgrade by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now live and available to those who recently applied — as well as those planning to submit applications soon.
Whether you’ve already applied for a Canadian study permit, work permit, Express Entry, visitor visa, or family sponsorship, you can now monitor your progress without waiting weeks for email updates or calling the IRCC support line. For future applicants, this new tool is set to make the immigration process significantly smoother and more transparent.
Who Can Use the New Visa Application Tracker?
As of now, the tracker supports the following application types:
- Sponsorship of a Spouse, Partner, or Dependent Child (or being sponsored as one)
- Express Entry Applications
- Study Permits
- Work Permits
- Visitor Visas (Temporary Resident Visas)
IRCC has also confirmed that more categories — including permit extensions — will be added soon.
Already Applied? Here’s What to Do
If you’ve recently submitted your application and received your Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) by mail or email, you’re eligible to use this tracker. You’ll need to create a new tracker account — even if you’ve previously used the older Client Application Status tool, as old login details won’t work.
Create your tracker account only after receiving your AOR.
