Australia Simplifies Parent Visa Process with New ImmiAccount Integration in 2025

In an important move to modernize visa processing and enhance applicant convenience, the Australian Government has announced a major update to the ImmiAccount system. As of 24 April 2025, Parent visa applicants who submit paper-based applications can now import their application into ImmiAccount once it has been acknowledged by the Department of Home Affairs.

What Has Changed?

While paper-based application submission is still mandatory for Parent visas, applicants now have the option to digitally manage their application through ImmiAccount. Once your paper form has been received and officially acknowledged, you can import your application online — unlocking a range of new online services.

This update brings long-awaited relief to thousands of Parent visa applicants by making the visa journey smoother, faster, and easier to track.

New Online Services Now Available

By importing your paper application into ImmiAccount, you will now be able to:

  • Upload supporting documents online without postal delays
  • Receive and view messages from the Department directly
  • Update your personal details in real time
  • Check the live status of your visa application anytime.

This new digital convenience applies to all new and existing Parent visa applications, except for Parent (subclass 103) visa applications that were lodged before November 2018.

How to Import Your Paper Application into ImmiAccount?

A step-by-step guide has been provided on the Department’s official “Apply and manage your application” page. It’s designed to help applicants easily link their paper applications with their online ImmiAccount.

Why This Matters?

Until now, paper-based Parent visa applicants were stuck with limited communication methods, longer document handling times, and minimal visibility into the status of their application.
This hybrid system finally bridges that gap, allowing applicants to enjoy the best of both worlds — traditional paper submissions combined with modern online tracking and management tools.

In short:

  • Faster document uploads
  • More transparency
  • Less stress while waiting.
