Background & Job Description
The Narrative Initiative, a strategy hub dedicated to transforming deeply held beliefs and values to make equity and justice the foundations of a multiracial democracy, is offering a paid, remote internship in narrative research for Summer 2025. This part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week) runs from July to September 2025 and is designed for individuals eager to delve into the mechanics of narrative change and its role in social movements.
Interns will join the Landscape & Assessment team, contributing to projects that analyze and influence narratives across various social movements, including racial justice, climate action, disability rights, and reproductive freedom. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with real-world qualitative data and influence how changemakers communicate for equity and justice.

Tasks
As a Narrative Research Intern, your responsibilities will include:

Learning Narrative Organizing: Understand the fundamentals of narrative organizing and its impact on social change.

Qualitative Research: Code media and content using qualitative research tools like Atlas.ti.

Narrative Analysis: Analyze stories and deep narratives that shape public perception.

Database Contribution: Contribute to the Narrative Index, a living database of media examples.Vogue Business

Team Collaboration: Participate in team sensemaking and strategy meetings.

Cross-Movement Engagement: Collaborate across movements, including immigration, health equity, climate, and economic justice.

Research Design: Optionally engage in interview processes and research design.
Qualifications
Education and Certification

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within the last two years) from an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program.

No specific major is required, but preference is given to those with backgrounds in social sciences, media studies, communications, or related fields.
Experience

Demonstrated interest or involvement in social justice, media, or narrative research.

Past volunteer experience, internships, or research in related areas is an added advantage but not required.
