Funding Package
The Henan Government Scholarship offers a well-rounded financial package tailored to different levels of study and program types:
- Doctoral Programs: CNY 40,000 per year for a duration of up to 4 years.
- Master’s Programs: Tuition fee coverage up to a maximum of CNY 30,000 per year for no more than 3 years (students must pay the difference if tuition exceeds this amount).
- Bachelor’s Programs: CNY 15,000 per year for 4 years (6 years for medical programs).
- Pre-degree Programs: CNY 10,000 per year for programs less than a year long.
- Chinese Language, General Scholar, Advanced Scholar, and Research Scholar Programs: CNY 5,000 per semester or CNY 10,000 per year, with a duration of no more than 1 year.
Note: The scholarship primarily covers tuition and internship fees only. If the awarded amount doesn’t fully cover the costs, the student is responsible for the remaining balance.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Henan Provincial Government Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a non-Chinese citizen, physically and mentally healthy, and have no criminal record.

- Master’s Programs: Bachelor’s degree; age limit: 35
- Doctoral Programs: Master’s degree; age limit: 45
- Chinese Language Programs: High school diploma; age limit: 55
- General Scholar Programs: At least a sophomore or a bachelor’s degree; age limit: 30
- Advanced Scholar Programs: At least a master’s student or degree holder; age limit: 40
- Research Scholar Programs: Doctoral degree holder or associate professor; age limit: 50.
Language Requirements:
- For Chinese-instructed programs: HSK proficiency certificate is required.
- For English-instructed programs: IELTS/TOEFL required for non-native speakers; English-speaking countries must submit English scores.
- No prior language knowledge required for Chinese language programs.
